FLYworks Concerts

The focus of FLYworks' performing groups, FLY KiDS and FLY Crew, is on learning and growing by performing. Through our own concerts and participating in other arts organizations' productions, our dancers get the benefit of the full theatrical experience—formal stage, lights, full sound, and performing with and learning from other artists.

FLY Crew and FLY KiDS perform an average of once per month in concerts, at festivals, and other exciting venues in Houston and Texas. Performances in 2006 and 2007 have included Dance Houston in the Hobby Center's Zilkha Hall both in August and December (2006), the Bayou City Arts Festival, The Children's Museum, Kemah Board Walk, the HYPE Showcase in Plano, Dance Houston (August 2007) in the Wortham Theatre's Cullen Auditorium, and Bayou Theater at U of H Clearlake.

FLYworks produces its own fall and spring concerts featuring FLY KiDS and FLY Crew in newly choreographed pieces and as well as our old favorites.

Dance fans, friends, and relatives of FLY KiDS and FLY Crew dancers: We invite you to come see what these kids are accomplishing.

Dance and physical education teachers and school administrators: Come see the entertaining, clean-cut style of dance FLYworks advocates for PE and afterschool programs. (If you like what you see, you may want to consider our Teacher Workshops and Training Videos.)

Tourists, booking agents, event planers, and Houstonians looking for entertainment: These kids are performers! Pure family entertainment. High-energy fun. (FLY KiDS and FLY Crew can be booked locally and regionally.)

FLY KiDS Win "Audience Pick Award"

In its third appearance on Dance Houston's semi-annual concerts and in a little over a year since its inception, FLY KiDS won the "Audience Pick Award" and its accompanying $500 prize. The winner of this award is determined by audience members indicating their favorite dance group immediately after the concert. FLY KiDS and FLYworks is extremely proud of this honor.

Dance Houston is a city-wide dance festival now in its 5th year. It has grown each year such that this concert featured twelve Houston-area dance companies representing a Houston dance community that provided an action-packed, clever, colorful evening of entertainment at a level seldom produced in Houston. All dance companies contributed significantly to the evenings' success by providing a wide variety of high-quality art and entertainment.

Special thanks and congratulations go to Dance Houston's Executive Director, Andrea Cody, and her staff for producing this concert. Our thanks also go to Jeremy Choate whose lighting design elevated and enhanced the impact of each act.

The word should be out by now: Dance Houston is a concert that dance lovers should not miss.

"Hype Showcase" June 2nd
Plano Courtyard Theater
Plano, Texas

On June 2, 2007, FLY KiDS traveled to Plano, Texas to perform on the "Hype" concert. It was billed as a choreographer's showcase and an opportunity to show new work. FLY KiDS performed along with nine other dance companies including four Dallas-area hip hip groups and a ballet dance company. Responses from audience and other dance groups led us to believe that FLY KiDS was the hit of the concert. The organizer immediately invited FLY KiDS back for next year's concert.
