FLYworks Tuition Scholarships
FLYworks Showcase Performing Groups
FLY KiDS
(generally 4th-7th grades) and FLY Crew
(generally 8th-12th grades) are the public embodiment of the FLYworks mission and through
them FLYworks develops and demonstrates the positive dance style it advocates.
Benefits of Membership in the Performing Groups
Performing group members have the opportunity for top-notch training and performing experiences.
As an important part of a team with high quality standards, the dancers learn the value of commitment,
cooperation, responsible behavior, setting goals, and working diligently toward achieving those goals.
In the process, they build character, self-esteem, and, most important, FLY KiDS and FLY Crew members
have a lot of fun.
Tuition Payments
To defray some of the cost of these performing groups, there is amonthly
tuition fee for group members. In the event it is necessary to alter the tuition fee, parents will be
notified prior to the change. Monthly tuition fees are applied toward the costs of the FLY KiDS and
FLY Crew programs (including space rental, instructors, most costume pieces, entry fees, etc.).
However, tuition fees do not cover expenses such as trips, some costume pieces, and dance shoes.
Purpose of Scholarships
Tuition scholarships are for assisting group members’ parents who have
indicated a need for tuition support. Scholarships may be partial or full. Full
scholarships pay the entire monthly tuition fee current when scholarships are awarded. Parents are
expected to rescind scholarships if made possible by a change in financial status.
Scholarship Administration
All aspects of FLYworks Tuition Scholarships policy and administration will
be determined by FLYworks executive officers. This includes, but is not limited to, the selection
process and voiding or reducing a scholarship award.
Scholarship Eligibility
To be eligible to apply for a tuition scholarship, dancers must be members
of a FLYworks showcase performing group.
Scholarship Application
Parents may request tuition scholarship forms from the FLYworks office or
download them from the FLYworks scholarship web page (www.flyworks.org). Parents are asked to
make direct statements as to the need of a partial or full scholarship, approximate length of
time they will need the scholarship, what FLY KiDS or FLY Crew means to their child, and the
commitment both parent and child expect to make to the program. Private family matters or
personal financial details are not necessary or requested by FLYworks.
Selection Process
Scholarship donors may request particular dancers to be recipients of
their scholarship donation regardless of the financial status of recipients’ families.
Otherwise, tuition scholarship recipients are determined exclusively by FLYworks. Only
dancers who have demonstrated long term commitments to their FLYworks group, worked
diligently toward the goals of FLYworks, attended rehearsals and performances on a
regular basis, demonstrated responsibility, and exhibited positive attitudes and
respect will be considered for tuition scholarships.
Awarding Scholarships
For privacy considerations, recipients of tuition scholarships will not be made public by FLYworks.
For accountability, scholarship donors will be notified of their scholarship recipient's identity.
Scholarship donors may choose to remain anonymous. Parents should continue to pay tuition fees until
FLYworks notifies them of the amount of scholarship payments and when they will begin.
Status of Scholarship Dancers
All members of FLY KIDS and FLY Crew will be given equal respect and privacy
regardless of tuition scholarship status. Dancers having tuition scholarships will have similar
assignments and responsibilities as non-scholarship dancers.
Interaction Between Scholarship Donors and Recipients
Scholarship donors may request introductions to their scholarship recipients
while attending FLYworks functions. Other than “thank you” notes to donors, no other interaction
is expected or required.
Retention of Scholarships
To retain scholarships, dancers must remain FLY KiDS or FLY Crew members in
good standing regarding commitment, work ethic, regular attendance, behavior and respect as
determined exclusively by FLYworks. Failing to do so will result in loss of scholarship.
Parents/guardians will be notified of problems jeopardizing a scholarship before it is terminated.
No Guarantee of Continued Scholarship Funding
Funding of a partial or full scholarship is entirely at the discretion of each donor.
Donors have no contractual obligation to FLYworks as to scholarship amount or duration. In the event that
scholarship monies are not available, the responsibility for tuition reverts immediately to the parent.
