As a parent of a Fly Kid, I can say that I am so happy with all that my son Gabriel has learned. Every Monday and Wednesday, he is so ready to come to dance class, and I see that he gets so excited... Which can only mean that he likes what he is learning, because he loves to dance.

He has made new friends, learned choreographies, its good exercise, and a good challenge for him each time he can't get a step or a “move” right, he practices like crazy to make Mrs. Cathy proud and to prove to himself, that he can.

I’m writing to commend the FlyKids dance program as the parent of a dancer.

Our family lives in a rural community north of Tyler where we do not have opportunity to participate in this sort of Arts oriented program. With such limited Arts programming in schools, FlyKids is a tremendous benefit to underprivileged youth.

The Woods not only teach dance but incorporate self-esteem building and leadership skills. Mike and Kathy Woods’ years of teaching experience shine through as I have watched them work with my son Donovan. He has come into a greater confidence and overall has better life skills as a result of being in this program for over a year.

Since the FlyKids program is no cost, it benefits so many children who would not have the opportunity to work hard in dance. The kids serve the community as a beacon for good, clean fun and hard work!

I hope this program will grow with proper funding to reach more youth in the North Tyler area for Arts exposure, self-confidence, and leadership skills.
